Student Director

It is the goal of Campus Recreation to provide the skills necessary for Student Directors to be top performers in their respective fields. This multi-faceted opportunity focuses on providing skill development preparing each student for their professional careers. The Student Director position is primarily project based under the supervision of the Assistant Director of HR Student Development. Below is a brief list of the opportunities afforded to Student Directors.

  • Highest student staff position available in Campus Recreation.
  • Work side by side with the professionals in a fast-paced, creative environment.
  • Mentoring from a member of the professional staff.
  • Option to attend nationally recognized leadership and professional conferences.
  • As a project-based position, students work on Campus Recreation initiatives while building personal attributes in the areas of:

Previously completed projects by past Student Directors, showcasing the scale and importance of the position:

  • Activities and Recreation Center (ARC) Notification System
    Student Director Brant Davis worked alongside an Associate Director in creating a new notification system for the ARC. This system allows patrons to seamlessly navigate through the large building, notifies patrons of emergencies and facility updates, and is utilized every day.
  • Rewards and Recognition
    Designed to recognize the hard work and dedication of Campus Recreation student employees, this rewards them for their efforts. Similar programs are becoming increasingly popular in businesses as they have the potential to lead to increased productivity, improved job satisfaction, and decreased turnover, which are all essential to operating a successful business.
  • Hiring and Training
    Selection and training of employees are crucial to any successful organization. This project upgrades Campus Recreation’s hiring and training practices and affects nearly every employee of Campus Recreation.
