1990s Highlights

The 1990s were also known as the Decade of Change. It saw the collapse of the Soviet Union, the explosion of the internet, the bombing of the World Trade Center, and the first world's first successful clone–Dolly the sheep. The Titanic, in 1997, was the most lucrative box-office movie getting people to come out in droves, while the Oklahoma bombing and the unabomber left many people afraid to leave their homes. Tiger Woods reigned as the youngest golfer to win the Masters, but the reigning Prince and Princess split up. And while the Pathfinder was blazing trails with pictures from Mars, Mike Tyson was banned from boxing for biting off a piece Evander Holyfield's ear.

Other noteable sporting events included Magic Johnson's retirement from basketball, the cancellation of the World Series after the player's strike, Lance Armstrong's comeback after testicular cancer to win his first Tour de France, and the NHL's first participation in the Winter Olympics (1998).
