Membership

Who's Eligible

Campus Rec provides recreation and wellness opportunities to students and the university community. Current full-time UI students are automatically members provided they have been assessed the Service Fee*. University affiliates are eligible to purchase memberships at specified rates. Affiliates include faculty/staff, Extra Help employees, retirees, and allied organization employees. Spouses/partners of affiliates and students may also purchase memberships at the faculty/staff rate. Current Alumni Association members are also eligible to purchase memberships. In addition, university affiliates and full-time students may sponsor one adult with no university affiliation for an associate membership at the specified rate.

Daily Passes

Campus Rec members, UI students, affiliates and Alumni Association members may purchase daily guest passes for themselves and up to five guests. $8/adults and $5/children per day.

Children's Hours

Children's Hours are designated times for members and guests ages 17 and under to utilize the CRCE facility. In fall and spring semesters those times are 4-8pm Fridays and Noon-8pm Saturdays/Sundays. During Children's Hours, daily passes for guests ages 4-17 are reduced to $5/per guest, children ages 3 and under are free.

Community (Non-Member) Opportunities

For the surrounding community, Campus Rec offers several opportunities to participate in services and special events. We also offer rental opportunities at many of our facilities for use with an option to include one or more of our programs. Our Outdoor Center offers clinics, trips, and rental equipment at a community rate. Swimming lessons, skating lessons and personal training packages are also available for nonmembers.

Student Service Fee *

Students registered for 6 hours (3 hours in the summer) are typically assessed the Student Service Fee which supports Campus Recreation programs. These students are automatically Campus Rec members and may enter any Campus Rec facility with their i-card. Those with fewer hours or exempt from the Service Fee may request to have the fee assessed through Student Accounts (100 Henry Administration Bldg), within the first four weeks of the fall and spring semester in order to become Campus Rec members. Visit the Office of Admissions and Records for more information. During the summer, Campus Rec may sell student memberships to those not assessed the Service Fee.

During the first two weeks of the semester, Campus Rec will offer an Alternative ID Period because the i-cards may not reflect assessment of the Student Service Fee. At this time, students may present a billing statement, copy of class schedule, registration agreement, housing contract or letter from their department along with a photo ID to access any facility. The Alternative ID Period is the only time these documents will allow access. A valid i-card is needed at all other times.

"Campus Rec membership is such a great value for the variety of activities and the convenience of locations. The hours are great with before and after work opportunities, along with the weekends. The facilities are awesome and I've always felt welcomed and comfortable by the staff and other patrons."

~ Becki Galardy, Manager of Parent Programs
