WEATHER CLOTHING for X-C SKIING, HIKING, JOGGING
DEPENDING ON HOW VIGOROUSLY YOU WILL BE X-C SKIING OR
HIKING YOU WOULD DO WELL TO DRESS SIMILAR TO THAT WHICH YOU WOULD WEAR
RUNNING OUTDOORS DURING THE WINTER. THE KEY IS TO WEAR LAYERS AND AVOID
OVERHEATING (WARMTH/BREATHABILITY THROUGH LAYERING).
THE VIGOROUS X-C SKIER/HIKER WHO MOVES CONSTANTLY WHILE
MAKING A FEW SHORT STOPS IF ANY, WILL KEEP WARM BY PRODUCING HIS/HER OWN
BODY HEAT. THIS SKIER/HIKER WILL WEAR A MINIMUM OF LAYERS.
THE LESS ACTIVE SKIER WILL WEAR MORE LAYERS OF INSULATING CLOTHES TO KEEP
WARM. WHEN THIS PERSON STARTS TO OVERHEAT A LAYER OR TWO SHOULD BE REMOVED.
THE IDEA IS TO AVOID OR REDUCE THE OCCURRENCE OF BODY MOISTURE NEXT TO
THE SKIN WHICH TAKES AWAY HEAT FROM THE BODY AND REDUCES THE INSULATING
ABILITY OF FABRICS.
