What was your first recreational position?
I worked as a camp coordinator for Campus Rec setting up children's camps, supervising counselors and scheduling activities.
Your first professional position?
Assistant Director of Fitness, Strength and Conditioning: supervising, setting schedules, training student employees helped me realize my role within the organization and helped me focus my goals as a professional.
What are your current job responsibilities?
I oversee hiring and provide orientation and training for new employees; deal with labor issues (CS and AP); provide HR best practices and develop policies and procedures for professional staff; and I supervise our leadership programs for campus and community outreach.
What is the best part about working for Campus Rec?
I appreciate that Campus Rec strives to provide development for all of it's staff; student and professional. I feel that the most gratifying facet of my work is watching the growth and development of yourself as an individual, and those around you within the organization.
What are the challenges of working closely with student staff?
When I work with student staff it can be challenging to understand all the generational differences. Student really do keep you in the loop, if you're receptive.
What is your most memorable moment while working at Campus Rec?
Some of the most gratifying experiences I've had while working here involved working with our staff, and in programming with ActiveLEAD and Latino/a Family Day.
What are your future professional goals?
I hope to continue to grow as a Human Resources professional and hope to be able to provide consulting to other areas in the academic and public sectors.
What is your personal fitness philosophy?
To lead a healthy, well-balanced lifestyle.
