Now you see it; now you don't. Optional regions offer web designers the option
to have an element be in place at one moment and gone the next.
This can be a huge advantage for several reasons: items can be advertised
as "On Sale" for limited time frames; elements can be
updated as to their availability; images can be changed out to designate
a category; and so on.
To create an optional region:
• Click on the Optional button in the Templates tab of the
Insert bar;
• From the Menu bar, choose Insert > Template Objects
> Optional Region;
• Right-click the selection and choose Templates > New
Optional Region.
Type a name in the New Optional Region window (you can't create
an optional region in a region which is already editable; and the
same rules apply: no spaces or punctuation); click OK. Your new
region has the familiar blue outline and tab, but with "if"
before the designated name.
Locked, Repeating, Optional Editable and
Advanced Options
This region can be locked, have repeating elements or be optional
and editable. Advanced optional regions allow you to have
multiple optional areas within a single template. These areas require
additional testing on your part!
